Refund and Cancellation Policy
Last updated: 2026-08-13
This page explains when you get your money back, how quickly, and what we cannot refund. The short version: if ClearVin has no US record for the VIN you paid for, you pay nothing — we refund the full price to your card automatically, and you do not have to ask.
If ClearVin has no US record for your VIN
The data in our paid report comes from ClearVin. If ClearVin holds no US record at all for the VIN you paid for, there is no report to give you — so you do not pay for one. Our system refunds the full price to the card you paid with, by itself. You do not have to write to us, fill in a form, or prove anything. You will see this on the page immediately after payment, and we also send you an email about it. We send the refund straight away; from there your bank decides the speed, and 5 to 10 business days to see the money back on your card is normal. One thing to be clear about, because it is the part people ask about most: this covers the case where ClearVin returns no US record at all. It is not a promise about how much history a record contains. Some US cars have years of title, odometer and auction entries; others have a single title record and nothing more. Both are genuine results, and a report built on a genuine record is delivered as described even when that record turns out to be short.
Your 14-day right to cancel, and why you give it up
If you buy from inside the EU, distance-selling law normally gives you 14 days to withdraw from a purchase without giving a reason. Digital content that is delivered immediately is treated differently. Before you pay, we ask you to tick a box in which you expressly request that we start generating your report and deliver it immediately, before the 14-day period ends, and confirm that you understand you lose the right to withdraw once the report has been delivered in full. That is the waiver set out in Article 16(m) of the Consumer Rights Directive (2011/83/EU). We repeat it in your confirmation email, so you have it in writing. Until the report has actually been delivered, your right to withdraw still stands. If you have paid and no report has reached you, write to us: we will cancel the purchase and refund you in full. Nothing on this page takes away rights the law gives you and that cannot be signed away. If a delivered report is genuinely faulty — it shows a different vehicle, the file will not open, or a section ClearVin did return is missing from it — you keep your statutory remedies, and we will either fix it or refund you.
Model withdrawal form
You do not need this form to reach us — a plain email is enough, in any language. It is reproduced here because EU law requires us to make it available. To EVIAR TECHNOLOGIES, 4500 Havenridge Road, McKinney, TX 75071, United States, support@carvinvin.com: I hereby give notice that I withdraw from my contract for the supply of the following digital content: ______ Ordered on: ______ Name of consumer: ______ Address of consumer: ______ Signature of consumer (only if this form is sent on paper): ______ Date: ______
If the automatic refund does not go through
Card refunds usually work, but not always — a card that has been closed or a bank that rejects the return can stop one. When that happens we do not quietly drop it. The page and the email say plainly that the refund did not go through, and our own team gets an alert at the same time. Write to support@carvinvin.com with your VIN and we will refund you another way. You will not be left paying for a report we could not give you.
What is not refundable
A report that arrives with genuine US records is delivered as described. It is not refundable because you did not like what it said, or because there was less in it than you hoped. How much history exists for a car is decided by what US titling agencies, insurers and auctions actually reported — not by us — and a short history is a real answer about the vehicle, obtained at the same cost to us as a long one. We also cannot refund a purchase because you typed the wrong VIN, because you bought the same VIN twice, or because a seller disagrees with what the records show. None of this touches your statutory rights. If the report is genuinely faulty — the wrong vehicle, a file that will not open, or a section ClearVin returned that is missing from what we showed you — that is our problem, not yours. Write to us and we will correct it or refund you.
How to ask for a refund
In the no-record case you do not have to ask: it is automatic. For anything else, email support@carvinvin.com, or billing@carvinvin.com for questions about the payment, the receipt or an invoice. Please include: • the VIN you checked; • the email address you paid with; • the date of the purchase, and the Stripe receipt number if you have it; • what went wrong, in your own words. Write in whatever language is easiest for you. There is no account to log into and no form to fill in.
How long it takes
We answer refund emails within 1 business day. When a refund is due we send it the same day. The money goes back to the card or payment method you paid with — we cannot send it anywhere else, and we cannot send it to a different person. After that it is your bank's timetable, not ours: 5 to 10 business days is normal, and weekends and public holidays add to it. We never tell you a refund has been made before our payment provider confirms that it has actually gone out.
If you are not happy with the outcome
Tell us first. Write to support@carvinvin.com and a person will look at your case again — most disagreements end here. If we still cannot agree, you keep every right you have as a consumer, including the right to take the matter to the consumer-protection authority or the court that is competent where you live. We are not currently signed up to an alternative dispute resolution (ADR) body and are not obliged to use one; if that changes, we will name the body on this page. Please note that the European Commission's online dispute resolution (ODR) platform was shut down on 20 July 2025, so there is no longer an EU form to submit. Write to us directly instead.
Who you are buying from
Your contract for the report is with EVIAR TECHNOLOGIES (United States), 4500 Havenridge Road, McKinney, TX 75071, United States. It is the seller: it takes your payment, issues your receipt and pays any refund. "SHPATIK STUDIO" S.R.L. (Moldova) builds and runs carvinvin.com and answers support email on the seller's behalf. It is a contracted supplier and is not the seller. The vehicle data itself comes from ClearVin, an Approved NMVTIS Data Provider and an independent company. ClearVin is not the party you buy from and not the party that refunds you.
