P0430Catalyst System Efficiency Below Threshold (Bank 2)

Same as P0420 but for bank 2 (the cylinder bank that does not contain cylinder #1). The computer compares the oxygen sensors before and after the bank 2 catalytic converter and found it is no longer cleaning the exhaust efficiently. Usually the converter is worn out, though a bad sensor or exhaust leak can also be the cause.

You can usually drive short distances; this is an emissions code, not an urgent safety problem. Have it diagnosed before buying a converter, since a sensor fault, exhaust leak, or misfire can cause it. Fix any upstream engine issue first to avoid damaging a replacement converter.
