The signal voltage from the intake air temperature (IAT) sensor is lower than expected, which the computer reads as unusually hot intake air or a circuit fault. Because the sensor's resistance drops as temperature rises, a low voltage usually points to a short to ground in the wiring or a failed sensor. The mixture may be adjusted slightly wrong, but the effect is typically minor.
