P0115Engine Coolant Temperature Circuit Malfunction

The engine computer detected a problem with the engine coolant temperature (ECT) sensor circuit, meaning the signal is missing, out of range, or unreliable. The computer uses coolant temperature to control fuel mixture, idle, and the cooling fans, so a bad signal can affect how the engine runs. This code is about the sensor circuit, not necessarily actual overheating.
