P0116Engine Coolant Temperature Circuit Range/Performance

The engine computer checks the coolant temperature reading and decided it does not make sense compared to other data, like how long the engine has run or the intake air temperature. The signal is electrically present but the value is out of the expected range or changes too slowly. Often this points to a coolant temperature reading that is stuck, lazy, or biased.
