The engine computer detected a problem with the upstream oxygen sensor circuit on bank 1 (the front, pre-catalytic-converter sensor on the cylinder bank with cylinder 1). This sensor measures oxygen in the exhaust so the computer can fine-tune the fuel mixture. A circuit fault means the signal is missing, out of range, or behaving abnormally.
